What is hazmat shipping?

Hazardous materials shipping is the regulated transport of goods that pose a risk in transit — flammables, corrosives, compressed gases and more. It is governed by strict rules on classification, packaging, labeling, placarding and documentation, and a single error can mean fines, delays or a refused load.

RS Group brokers hazmat freight as LTL or full truckload, placing it only with carriers that hold the right hazmat endorsements and equipment. We help you classify the material, confirm the packaging and paperwork, and keep the move compliant from pickup to delivery. (Note: our Atlanta warehouse does not store hazmat — we broker the transport, not warehouse storage of dangerous goods.)

Why ship hazmat with RS Group

Compliance is not optional with dangerous goods. We make sure every requirement is met before the freight moves.

  • Carriers vetted for hazmat endorsements, training and the right equipment.
  • Help classifying your material to the correct UN number and hazard class.
  • Packaging, labeling, placarding and shipping-paper requirements confirmed up front.
  • LTL or full truckload, matched to your volume and the material.
  • One point of contact across classification, booking and delivery.

Hazard classes we coordinate

We coordinate compliant transport across the regulated hazard classes, including:

  • Class 2 — gases (flammable, non-flammable and toxic compressed gases).
  • Class 3 — flammable liquids (fuels, solvents, paints).
  • Class 4 — flammable solids and substances that are spontaneously combustible or water-reactive.
  • Class 5 — oxidizers and organic peroxides.
  • Class 6 — toxic and infectious substances.
  • Class 8 — corrosives (acids and bases).
  • Class 9 — miscellaneous dangerous goods, including lithium batteries.
